Good to know. KMS is the way to go now, and non-KMS bugs will probably
never be fixed, so I closing this bug.
Well, I guess they actually will be fixed by disabling UMS, as intel
and nouveau already did in January.

Since the upgrade to 1.7.2, EDID detection by the X server sometimes
works and sometimes fails.
With KMS, the bug seems not to be present (presumably because X gets
EDID from the kernel now?). EDID has been correctly detected since at
least 6 February,
