I'd be glad to update and maintain intel-gpu-tools within the pkg-xorg
team, however I'm having a bit of trouble pushing to the git repo
right now...

Is there any attempt to get intel-gpu-tools 1.6 which fixes the bug ?
Not really, no.
Do you guys need help? Updating the package to the latest upstream
version should be a no-brainer using the Debian git packaging tools
unless I am missing something here.
I'd be happy to NMU.
