Joel, how well does "glxinfo" run? I too noticed this with q3a, and glxinfo also dies in a similar manner. Since I don't have time to play games at the moment, I didn't investigate further -- I figured I broke something. :) I am still running kernel 2.4.0-test7 with my MGA 400 Max, matrox's driver
