I'd second the RAM disk recommendation. You don't need to pay for
enterprise-class RAM disk anymore, as the feature is built into Starwind
Software's StarPort iSCSI initiator, which is free. We've used it for 2+ years
now.

I am not sure about this. So I am opening this up for discussion..
What would happen if you just ran Smartermail as an Outbound email gateway.
Wouldn't Domainkeys/Dkim still work
keep Imail for incoming mail, and use Smartermail for outgoing mail
and employees, but why have two things to manage when you can have one.
