+1 for remove tagline for now until things can be worked out with Sun or
with a vote. I do like having a tagline.

I liked the positioning of the original tagline. The new tagline seems to
far away from "Apache Derby".

You could create a loop that pings the server to determine if it is up.
After a failed ping you could wait for a few seconds and try again. If after
a pre-determined number of attempts all result in failure then exit the
application with an error.

Perhaps you made a typo when you posted this but from what I see you did not
specify the length of the user_password field you simply indicated the
datatype VARCHAR.

IMHO: A derby is a hat and most people, I think, know that. I don't really
mind if the representation of the hat is technically a derby or technically
some other hat or a hybrid.
If you want to get technical based on the following link you provided...

Jeff,
If you look at Roger's initial post and open the attachment you will see
that he addressed the issues you mentioned: small size of logo, black and
white logo. He also addressed the case of displaying the logo on a dark
background.

Very nice!
I like the icons, one could be used as a favicon. I also like the large hat
in light grey, which could be used to background the derby web pages or just
the home page perhaps even as a watermark on derby docs. My favorite color
is blue so I am partial to the blue hat. I also like what
I like number 11, it looks very clean and business oriented. I like the hat
in that logo much better than the other hats. Perhaps some color could be
incorporated into the logo, maybe the hat or the word Derby. I also like the
font choice and size in relation to the hat.
The hats in logos 1-3 are
problems.
Now I can keep my setup the way it is. No need to move the derby library
files to the tomcat\common\lib folder. After reading the Enterprise scenario
Eric suggested I may change the setup but for now it remains.
FYI: I am now using 10.1.1.1.
Thanks,
