Disconnecting, then reconnecting the camera gives only one of the gthumb
dialogs (the one with three buttons). The dual dialog spawning only
seems to happen when first connecting the camera. I haven't been able to
duplicate it since.
Perhaps this is a gthumb bug? The dialog with two
okay, first off, after running "gnome-session-remove gnome-panel &&
gnome-panel --sync" and repeating the crash, I got this in the terminal:

Using latest Dapper, I connected a digital camera to a USB port on my
system. Immediately, two nearly identical photo import dialog boxes were
shown. See the attached screenshot.
Reporting this to g-v-m since I'm pretty sure that's what spawned the
dual dialog boxes.

As suggested in the upstream bug, I compiled gstreamer0.10.19, totem and
banshee from source today. I can now confirm that this issue is fixed
upstream since the 0.10.19 release of gstreamer-plugins-base. Dapper
still needs a fix though.

I noticed that both instances of epiphany had both the mplayer and totem
video plugins, thought maybe they were fighting. I removed the totem
plugin on one machine and the mplayer plugin on the other with no effect
on the problem.

Same problem here. Radeon 9800Pro with 7.0.0-8.25.18+2.6.15.11-3 fglrx

OK, after messing around with it for an hour, I managed to figure out a
way to fix this. This is just a hack until some things with nautilus and
hal are fixed up, but you can try this:
Open up /etc/hal/fdi/policy/preferences.fdi and paste this in at the end
(but before ):
