This is a problem with the old version of compiz shipping in the Dapper
repositories and with modual dialog boxes. This was fixed in compiz
upstream a long time ago. Syncing compiz to the latest version will
solve this bug.

I fixed the upstream bug about the wrong backend used.
It should use gnome-screensaver instead of X11 now.
Testing welcome.

I do indeed have /etc/init.d/samba I tried restarting samba but this had
