Heres the problem, upon some restarts, not every restart, when I try to
use my keyboard mulitmedia keys to change the volume it will use my
via8237[alsa mixer] and not my Audigy 2 ZS [sb0350] (alsa mixer). In
gnome-volume-manager I have it set to use the audigy card and I can

I think I found the problem...aparently I had unknowingly upgraded several
packages past dapper by having a non-standard repository in my sources.list.
After a couple hours of manually identifying/downgrading/reinstalling I managed
to get everything back to normal, and gnome-terminal no long

I confirm this on Edgy updated tonight : segmentation fault caught by
bug-buddy (see trace attached). It might have something to do with the

Gnome-panel sometimes hangs for a couple of minutes when I hit System /
Quit... (which should display a window with log out, lock screen etc),
it happens about one time in ten tries. After a while, it resumes
normally and displays the window.

The problem seems to be that gtkhtml2.Document.open_stream() doesn't
handle a Content-type with a charset specified. http://www.gnome.org/
has a Content-type of "text/html; charset=utf-8". The following hack
resolves the problem, but it should be done better:

Hold the cheering; pygtk 2.10.2 breaks other stuff, but 2.10.3 will be
out soon. :P
