In baobab.desktop file, there is missing X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain key.
Therefore, the menu item is displayed only in predefined languages in desktop
file, but cannot be further localized. Particularly for czech (cs) translation,

The "failed to initialize HAL" error actually comes from update-notifier
(see bug #81670). It may be triggered by a race with hald startup.
This doesn’t necessarily explain the automount failure, though it may be
a similar kind of problem.

I’ve seen this a few times. This error dialog actually comes from
update-notifier. Could there be a race condition between dbus starting
hald and GNOME starting update-notifier?

I was copying some big backup-files from my dvd-rw to my second hdd (its
sata, if this matters). No totem was opened at all, as far I could see,
