Yes when using DVI! I've switched from DVI to VGA and that solved the

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn.
tried to launch main menu options and modify it from the control center
when it crached. wanted to add the synaptic package manager to the main
menu under the system tab

The problem may be solved by installing Galago, then killing the
notification daemon and rebooting the computer.
Not sure why, but this seemed to have helped me.

no they didn't, you likely installed the patched version from the non-
Ubuntu compiz archive. We had some discussion with the guy working on
those packages after tracking a bunch of crasher sent on launchpad
