I observed the same here. If I start Evolution after reboot, no exchange
pop-ups appear. After unchecking and rechecking my exchange calendar in
Edit-Preferences-Calendars and Tasks-Alarms, the pop-ups appear.
However this is not of persistent nature. After the next reboot by
default no exchange
I think this can also be applied by just starting gnome-terminal with a
different env setting, so this can be closed as it is rather old,
right?

I had the same problem yesterday.
I fixed it by making a copy of my .evolution folder, starting up so it would
create a new one and importing every mailbox. But the problem reoccurred today.

I was able to resolve this bug by uninstalling Korean language support,
support for complex characters in language support, and all SCIM related
software in Synaptic.
I think SCIM has some serious issues and bugs up many
programs...somebody needs to fix it.

Please ignore my ignorance, but what env setting is that? One of the
ones from locale(1)? I would guess LC_CTYPE.

This can't be... At first, it worked, the work around suggested in
#90258 worked until reboot, at which time I started seeing the error
again, so per instructions in #90258 I logged into a console after
logging out of my gnome session and use ps awux |grep evolution
This revealed nothing...
