Re-install fixed crashes in Firefox, oddness in windows, etc. Still

These are slightly different symptoms (but similar) to what I see. When
the panel locks up, window switching with alt-Tab works fine, and when
gnome-panel is killed in a terminal (eg $ killall gnome-panel ) it
mostly restarts okay (although sometimes it hangs again immediately,
sometimes not). Swit
For me with an up-to-date Gutsy it does The Right Thing (well, I think
so anyway). Nautilus pops up, and it is mounted as /media/psp.

Installed Hardy Alpha 3 two days ago. Updated last night and tonight.
After last night's update I could see Windows shares on another

Just looked at the valgrind log: a plugin seems to be the culprit
(/usr/lib/xchat-gnome/plugins/notifyosd.so), search for the string
SIGSEGV and you'll find the spot..
I guess that makes sense .. I only started experiencing the crashes
after turning on a few plugins in the preferences tab.

After more testing, I think the problem might be with gnome-settings-
daemon (which is still in gnome-control-center at the moment).

This icon on a desktop launcher used to stretch just fine until recent
nautilus was uploaded.
Create a desktop launcher and assign the attached icon for the launcher.
Try to stretch the icon. Nautilus seems to do something as "Restore
icon's original size" context menu item is enabled, but the siz

Run "gdb nautilus" in a terminal. You will get a gdb prompt. Type "run".
Then press enter every time it prompts you whether to continue or not.
Eventually it will crash. Then you will have a prompt again. Type "bt".
The output is your stack trace.

Correction; it does'nt matter if I have GDM autologin on or off. I still
get the error if I turn on concurrent boot.

please find attached a debdiff with a gcc4.3 fix inside.
It builds cleanly with the default ubuntu hardy toolchain and with the gcc-4.3
toolchain provided from ubuntu-toolchain ppa.

Stretching doesn't seem to work with icons provided by upstream Azureus
and Eclipse. Seems to work fine with stock gnome icons..
I'm attaching the upstream azureus icon that I'm unable to stretch. I'm
not sure if azureus license permits to do this, so please remove if it's
not okay.

Upstream seems content to keep Evolution doing passphrase caching for
now.
However, once e-d-s is modified to use gpg2, it will no longer be able
to do so. This is because gpg2 will *only* request passphrases via the
gpg-agent; there is no longer any facility to input a passphrase
directly into gp
My guess is that it's an installation problem. Old X server fighting with new
kernel (because the new kernel is when the problem arose).
I'm going to try re-installing the whole system with today's installation disk,
and see what that does.

Moving the hal init.d script fixed it for me.
I got the error on a newly installed 64bits Gutsy setup, after I changed
the init rc setting to concurrency and changed gdm to autologin.
The thing is, I didn't get the race condition with my old harddrive which is
slower; I went from a WD raptor to
