I have a System 76 Darter (original) laptop. I recently upgraded to
Hardy development (3/17/08) version and my hardware volume control
(up/down/mute) doesn't get recognized by default, or in
system->preferences->keyboard shortcuts. If
I believe it is because the plugin does not register with epiphany. The
Java plugin (sun, icedtea or any other) should do it (I am not sure, if
the just have to make correct links in /etc/alternatives or something
more is needed).

Here is a version of gnome-desktop we're considering for upload that
includes a check for the error reported in this bug. Can you please
install and verify that this makes it no longer crash in

I tried to obtain a backtrace, but the program behavior was somewhat
changed.
Normally, when exiting (closing or rebooting computer), it would
segfault and ask to report the bug. No more than an annoyance, since I
was trying to exit anyway.
With GDB attached, trying to exit resulted in a failure
The same here. Also, the panel hangs indefinitly or keeps crashing and
restarting until I kill gvfsd, gvfsd-sftp and nautilus.

Sebastien, I understand that the panel is user-level configuration, but
the Evolution top panel launcher icon is on ALL DEFAULT UBUNTU INSTALLS.
This makes it a default configuration when you install Ubuntu (trust me,
I'd much rather NOT have an Evolution icon, even if the package was
installed - i
