I have got the same problem here with Hardy 64-bit.
gvfs-mount does not work, but smbmount works perfect when mounting a password
protected share. gvfs-mount also works on non password protected shares.
The resource is shared with samba 3.0.24-6etch9 on Debian Etch. By looking at

The test box has an empty /var/crash directory. I decided to investigate

Same problem here with Ubuntu 8.04 on a 8GB Patriot USB Stick. Beta and
a fresh RC installation worked fine. After some updates of the RC
installation i had the same problem. Ubuntu 8.04 Final doesn't work even
if installed completely new. I have also tried to install the nvidia

jockey is too dumb to know whether the current video driver is
composite-capable, it only knows for the ones it explicitly knows about.
It would be more robust and easier if the applet would just try and
start compiz (which checks for the driver capabilities), and only if
that fails, call jockey -
could you try if that's still an issue on hardy?

I can confirm everything worked as expected in Gutsy, but it does not in
Hardy.
This is on the same machine. After upgrading to Hardy, the alt+alt
shortcut does not change keyboard layout.
