I get this problem with only 1 user. The computer crashes at random - no
matter if I'm at the computer or not. My graphics card is an ATI 9800XT
(with the proprietary drivers enabled).

Gnome printing subsystem. In fact, I was doing some checking before I

name of the folder you want the drive to be mounted in under /media, not
the entire directory path itself. For example, if I want my thumb drive
to have the mount point /media/thumb, I enter just "thumb" in the mount

video-module fixed everything, and since the hal-info-update, I tried
unblacklisting video again.
Reboot proved brightness control was still working for me.

To reproduce:
* start playing an mp3 in rhythmbox and pause it
* play something in bbc iplayer (my browser is firefox-3.0)
* try to unpause the mp3 in rhythmbox
Result:
* "Rhythmbox is not responding" error dialogue appears
Workaround:
* "Force quit" rhythmbox
* resta

I applied the proposed patch last week and all are working fine... but, if I
reproduce Jakob case (bookmark a unreachable machine) all Gnome freezes
(startup, open dialogs, etc).
This problem is like windows machines with shortcuts to unreachable
machine or mapped drivers.
