1. Open a GTK 'Open file' dialog.
2. Enable the location field (button in top-left of dialog, or Ctrl+L).
3. Double click one of the path component buttons.

I do have a clue on what's happening:
This I just experienced recently and am inclined to say that the reason
one can not rename the file to a particular fileName is that there is a
launcher or perhaps some metalink pointing to a folder with the
particular fileName AT THE LOCATION
Folks... for those of you trying to remotely run applications and are
not presented with the unlock option, Martin Pitt came up with the
solution in another bug report. [1]

In Ubuntu, you might right-click, select Properties, then specify a different

Looking at the ChangeLog of GVFS 0.2.5, there is mention of this bug
being fixed. A casual inspection of the code confirm it. Sebastien,
did a patch to fix this bug was added to the package you uploaded?

do you say thats not the case for you ?
