FWIW, I have this exact same problem using VMWare Workstation with this setup:
host = Ubuntu 8.10
guest= Ubuntu 8.04
VMWare Workstation version = 6.5.0 build-118166
In this setup, UpArrow triggers 'save screenshot' (in the guest),
RightControl types out ^[[6~, PageDown triggers context
While the first time I logged in I had options other than Log Out and
Switch User, those days are gone. :P I can still run pm-suspend and
pm-hibernate, although last time I ran pm-suspend the system suspended
and then immediately woke up (which it did successfully, however.)

I am having the same problem, also on Intrepid. As soon as a podcast
finishes downloading rhythmbox segfaults with no apport report. It is
reproducible every time and seems to always die after downloading the
third podcast in the download queue:

I am using intrepid with the default gedit.
When I am in gedit and press ctr-t a new tab does not open.
ctr-n works but it took me a long time to find and it is not what I am used to
after using firefox for so long.
Perhaps both could be mapped to opening a new tab. Or if
Leann Ogasawara : I'm sorry, my last comment was wrong. My
/boot/grub/menu.lst file didn't update correctly and I was still on the
old kernel. The bug is fixed in 2.6.27.10.13 kernel in intrepid-
proposed.

With 2.6.27-10 from -proposed the keyboard control for backlight works
with 7 levels of dimming up and down.
However, the brightness OSD is still not showing when using the keyboard
