I've added an IMAP account to check the same Exchange account for emails to
verify if it is an evolution-exchange specific problem.
The thing is the problem is very intermittent, I'd guess its around 1 in
a hundred emails don't display on time, and if the email shows up a few
hours or even a day

I am getting exactly this problem, still, with the latest jaunty
packages that have claimed to fix it.
If I run gnome-settings-daemon, I get constant ~30% CPU usage.
If I kill gnome-settings-daemon, the problem goes away.
I have another machine also running jaunty which doesn't show the

in gnome-power-manager for Intrepid. I don't know if this is correct as an
explanation about this wasn't given in that bug report.

The thumbnails already exist.. they are in the odt files... all this
requires is a gconf key and about 2 lines of bash to extract the icon
from the zip file like thunar does.. in a package
I can do the code and gconf if some one can package it.

I tested the issue on Intrepid Live CD and the issue is present in the way in
which the message "battery is charged" is never displayed.
By default the notification icon is only displayed when charging and discharing
process runs, so when the battery is fully charged the icon disappears and no

it could yes but I don't plan to work on that intrepid is not a lts
version, jaunty is due in one month and shape to be a better milestone
and now it's better to focus work on getting jaunty in shape that spend
efforts backporting to intrepid, you are welcome to pick up the task
though
