I couldn't run gconf-editor (gconf-gnome) on the host whilst this bug
was occuring, so i used the following commands via a ssh:

It's probably my fault for not explaining clearly; the problem isn't
that the screen doesn't dim, it's that it _can't_ dim. Ubuntu has
completely lost the ability to dim my netbook's screen, which is now
stuck at maximum brightness.

main due to licensing restrictions (it isn't free software).

More or less the problem I'm having. Seems to be associated with events
after a song without a CD cover. But also seems to be a bit random.
Sometimes wrong cover, sometimes no cover. Sometimes the false cover
then carries over to subsequent songs.. Song/Title/Artist text seems to
be unaffected.

I am filing this bug against gvfs but I'm not sure.
I used the alternate-CD to install karmic beta on my laptop. I chose
manual partition and installed ubuntu into a full encrypted hard-drive
with LVM2 containing some mount points. After regular boo
I've removed the gnome-screensaver, and installed the xscreensaver. It
works as it should with the xscreensaver. No dimming.
My version of Gnome is 2.26.1. The version of gnome-screensaver that was
installed was 2.24.0-0ubuntu6. There was no update to the screensaver,
which is why it was at tha
64 bit karmic, starting empathy

Vlc does not inhibit
I've got Ubuntu 9.04, and this problem persists. (Included is my system
info file.). On my system, I have all Power Management settings
disabled, so that the Monitor never goes to sleep. I'm using the
Metacity window manager, so I don't believe I am using compiz. Even
though I've got my screensave
