I've got stock kernel 2.6.32.3 and Debian (not Ubuntu), so all this

On my 5810TZ, xrandr --prop does not show BACKLIGHT_CONTROL. Backlight

startx command I cleaned out the HD, reinstalled G-P-M via synaptic and

I managed to fix it. I downloaded a new alacarte source package and
compiled the source code myself. I can now edit any menu entry in
alacarte.
If anyone needs to fix alacarte in Ubuntu Lucid (alpha 1) (gnome-

Vish, I thought the idea for hundredpapercuts was to take small issues
and fix them for ourselves. Since upstream has taken care of this, I
assumed that fix-committed would take up a spot of another potential
papercut that could use a fix.
