Same problem here. I have a Dell studio XPS.
It's particularly annoying when one selects the option burn to several

I can confirm it on a Lucid laptop. It worked before, but now the icon just
disappears and appears.
After upgrading to 2.29.2-0ubuntu9, the pulldown-menu with battery statuses
(laptop battery wireless logitech mouse) is working. The icon still blinks
and appears in different parts of systray.
