Changing the System->Preference->Appearance theme from ambiance to
anything else eliminates the problem as the cpufreq applet seems to use
the window text color which seems to be rather dark. Other applets are

For me it's:
Added my Google/Gtalk account thru the wizard, when finished empathy supposedly
must connect to the account.
Error message apeared, empathy didn't close but neither can login to Gtalk
account.
When I try to activate from menu it reads "network error".
Adding it as Jabber works.

I'm having a similar issue with a Mac/OSX generated PDF file. It will
display in Okular and xpdf. Uploading to Scribd also displays the file
correctly. Evince will not display the text. Images and formatting marks
display correctly, but the text is not rendered at all.

Ok I have more info that I didn't realize before. if I try to kill the
gnome-panel that is running after login, the screen flashes and it seems as
though it trys to restart but with no success and no erros so i run gnome-panel

You are 100% right, mine was a bare install. Could not reproduce on
patched version as the 'new' button does not exists anymore.
