Okay, I believe I've finally made good progress.. Even if it's quite sad
it happened so late ;)
To get more information, I decided to give the Fedora 16 Live CD a try,
since it was likely broken there too in which case I could provide
useful information to upstream to help with the debugging -- or
I have found that when power management suspends there is no password on
resume so this only affects manually suspending Oneiric.

This affects me as well. Whenever I have more than one video in the
playlist, the next video does NOT start. The "play" icon is displayed,

Thanks for the quick reply. I agree that working around the problem in
Nautilus would be awkward.
In comment #2 of the Shotwell bug #771757 there is some background info
taken from the upstream reports (and links to those reports). It seems
that the problem really is in gPhoto and Android.

When starting Empathy, if it tries to connect to servers that present
untrusted certificates (in particular self-signed as with Gmail or
Facebook), there is a check box to ask Empathy to remember the action
for next time. However setting that check box has no effect.
