I have reproduced this problem with the Gnome Classic desktop
In fullscreen mode this occurs on the change of minute and seems to be

Hi Simon,
Just so that I can get more of an idea of what is going on, could you
copy the .so to /usr/lib/control-center-1/panels/.
just in case you are unfamiliar, go to the terminal, go the directory
where you downloaded the .so and type
sudo cp libsoundnua.so /usr/lib/control-center-1/panels/
eog allocated a lot of memory & possible caused a memory leak, the PC
became unusable. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) Beta 2
with latest update as of today.

interaction between some and gPhoto, a common Linux library Shotwell
uses to access digital cameras.

I can't confirm the cpu spike but here shotwell starts with 2 icons,
then one is dismissed and one remain with an half done progress bar over
the unity launcher and it stays this way
