I am working with a directory with many files. Around 1000.
I am using Nautilus to try and move files into a subdirectory.
The subdirectory starts with 'M', so you have to scroll down several
screens to get to it.
Whenever I select a file and start dragging it to the subdir
This automatically fixed itself sometime in the last few days, and I was
able to calibrate it. Today, it decided to stop working again. :/
It seemed to happen after these updates:

What a silly change, & by the way in windows ctrl+alt+delete open to 5 choices,
the default being lock computer followed by, in order, - switch user, log off,
change password & finally task manager.
Fortunately for most upgraders they'll never know you did this...

I observe something else than jammy-zhou: the bug is still there in
nautilus 3.8.2 from the gnome3 ppa! I can also confirm that the same
patch (on this site) fixes this for 3.8.2. It should really get fixed

About the "x"-cursor: This see
I just tried the patch attached to this bug. I can confirm that it
removes the white background on the second screen. However, it does not
fix the cursor. The cursor is still x, but I guess that is a separate
