When I attempt to mount a remote port in nautilus via
sftp://user@server:port GVFS locks up nautilus, multiple GVFS processes
are spawned, GVFS uses ~100% CPU of all cores, and GVFS fails. A
screenshot of htop is attached.

And it just got really interesting. After fighting this issue for hours,
I gave up and resolved to copying by terminal.
By force of habit, I accidently used nautilus once more to copy, after copying
a batch of files by terminal, and presto, it works.
Nautilus now copies files without complaining.
Same / similar issue in Fedroa 22.

Nobody else but you have reported that issue ; you are the only one affected.
So i wonder if you are using that system since the Lucid installation (or even
before) and have made lots of dist-upgrading ?
It shoulb be helpfull to know which kind of formatted partition are used.

Can you try with 15.04 (stable) or 15.10 (development) releases? There
were lots of changes since 3.8, and this bug may be fixed there.

Not fixed in 15.04. G75VW keyboard backlight and screen brightness
settings are not saved. Also, the screen flashes like hell when trying
to change the brightness using the 'Fn' keys.
