Well, nice to see something's going on. The sort just sucks. Why not AT
LEAST provide the option to chose between plain ascii-codepage-utf-8

I've enabled XDMCP in GDM, and created an xinetd service for VNC via
XDMCP.
Any time I try to connect via VNC, gdm crashes, taking down the local display
as well.
After that, gdm won't start again until I kill the "orphaned" local display.

1. It is extremely clean, which I love and this also fits my Lubuntu
System. Banshee is not nice to look at.

Just managed to find that the culprit is actually the clutter plugin
(gstreamer1.0-clutter-3.0), uninstalling that (sudo dpkg -r --force-
depends gstreamer1.0-clutter-3.0) makes the session start again.
