Yes, I got some freezes, too, even longer than 10 seconds. One time I
restarted the laptop as I did not know what is going on, another time at
some point Gnome crashed and started by itself. This did not happen in
Unity.

The entire UI lags far behind as well. When gnome-shell using around 500
MB RAM, middle clicking Nautilus freezes the entire system UI for up to

Yes and no... That other bug has the precondition "If -synaptics is
installed", which implies that one needs to be fixed for the case where
synaptics remains installed. This bug however is fixed just by ensuring
synaptics gets uninstalled.

Touchpad settings don't work after upgrading to 17.10 (because
Installed a 16.04 VM, installed some snaps, opened disks, saw that there were
lots of snaps listed.
Enabled proposed and upgraded, rebooted, opened disks again and all the snaps
were not show. Much better!
