I have a suspicion that I cannot verify, though. It might be that the new
version of evolution is not backward compatible with older caldav
specifications.
I stopped using evolution and use Thunderbird and Lightning. There are some
glitches but overall it works.

laptop. At work, I plug two displays into my laptop, one DisplayPort and
one HDMI.
If, while both displays are plugged in and the laptop lid is closed and
the laptop's built-in display is therefore disabled

at the source code I found it is just named incorrectly:

Yes, both are on 18.04.
I wonder why I can reproduce it on three computers with two ubuntu
versions, with both Nvidia and Intel and you cannot (post #6)... Just in
case it might matter, I have other desktop environments (Plasma, xfce)
also installed, but my session manager is set to gdm.
Addition
No, the behaviour should be mostly identical between Wayland and Xorg
sessions. You may notice some differences but if you do then that's
probably a bug.
