failed boots) using gdm3 by selecting the kernel with "e" from grub and

In disco, when policykit prompted me for a password in order for update-
manager to dispatch instructions to aptdaemon to perform package
updates, the password dialog remained on the screen after I clicked
'authenticate'.

(2) Rebooted after install and surprisingly gdm3 appeared as it should so I
