On my systems, this bug also affected saving files from firefox, regardless of
the destination!
This is not about the time for downloading, I'm talking about ~1 kB files.
On one machine, it took 4-5 seconds saving such files to any location
(not just the desktop), on the other it took over 2
@vanvugt can this fix be backported to gnome-3-32 branch? I just talked
to the package maintainer in Arch repos and they said 3.33.4 is odd
numbered, hence not a stable release, so we would have to wait for 3.34,
but given how this is affecting many people I wished it sooner rather
than later.
In new interface "Play/Pause" is in main drop-down menu
and "Eject" is in the hamburger menu.
Checked with totem 3.32.0 and Ubuntu 19.10 (dev)
Closing as bug report refers to the old interface and there are
no comments re the new interface which was introduced several
years ago.

Upstream bug was closed "RESOLVED FIXED" on 2012-07-15 and
refers to the old interface.
Tested version 3.32.0 in Ubuntu 19.10 (dev). No conventional
playlist now but although the first file is displayed after
the last file is played it is not added to the the "Recent"
file list in nautilus. totem

Tested "Shuffle" mode using version 3.32.0 on Ubuntu 19.10.
No conventional playlist in the new interface but using a
small set of files the Shuffle button does cause a different
file to be played first unlike the Play button.
So closing this
Further to comment #3, fix would have been in Ubuntu for some time
Works as intended with Shotwell 0.30.2 in Ubuntu 19.10 (dev)
