I think this is one of those cases where upstream fixed one of the root
causes of an assertion failure without actually making the assertion
failure impossible. So the fix can be correct, and the crash still
happens.
Personally I'd prefer to not declare any assertion failure fixed unless either:

The oracular archives already contain gnome-calculator 46.1 as a .deb
package. I've installed that on noble without issues, and I can confirm
that also fixes this issue.
So if that package is copied to the noble archives, this bug will be
fixed.

the Flatpak of that version, and can confirm that it indeed is fixed in

Nautilus crashes when trying to open

I use Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and many times when I unlock the computer I find
that my session is closed, losing all the things I had open, after this
when trying to restart an error message box appears that says "gnome-
shell crashed with SIGABRT in ???() ".
I have tried to see
I installed the 4 listed new debs and rebooted. First time unplugging
the external display Gnome crashes again. So unfortunately these do not
fix the problem on my side.
I still have the tiling-assistant enabled.

Daniel, hello,
I had crashes with original mutter version in noble and with version
46.1-2ubuntu1.
Then I disabled tiling-assistant extension (as it was suggested in this ticket)
and didn't have any crashes since then.
I installed 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.1 once it become available in proposed
Verified fixed in 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.1 using the test plan in the bug
description.

I even set up Noble on my desktop to remove all the eGPU/Thunderbolt
problems. And there, this bug doesn't occur at all (even without the
fix). So I guess the issue outlined in comment #8 is somewhat hardware
specific.

Thanks. Although a couple of people have said they can still hit the
crash (James and Sergiy), I wonder if that's affecting fewer people then
should it be treated as a separate bug? I guess I'd like to hear from
more people as to whether the fix is working for the majority.

Using an Intel machine is no better. At least it became clear I get the
same freezes even without the SRU installed. So I think my issues are
caused by trying to use an eGPU over Thunderbolt. We should verify this
fix on a more self-contained system with fewer variables...
