running dnsmasq on 22.04.4. Upgraded it today with "do-release-upgrade
-d" (impatient) to 24.04.1. Upgrade went fine except that dnsmasq

1. I installed ubuntu-desktop-minimal.
2. I did sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3 to switch from lightdm to gdm3
3. reboot
4. No display. Logging in via ssh I see:
$ sudo systemctl status display-manager.service
● gdm.service - GNOME Display Manager
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/gdm.service
Make sure that ubuntu-desktop-minimal is still installed.

Yes, the SATA controller on that old Xeon box is a little strange and has been
so for at least 4 years.
This never affected the Gnome desktop before.
I installed lightdm as a workaround and it comes up okay.
I wonder what is wrong with gdm3.
