I happened to try another computer (HP Laptop 17-cn0xxx [i5-1135G7]) using a Plucky live image. It also does not show the brightness control in the menu. This computer's keyboard does have brightness keys and after pressing one of them the brightness control appears in the menu. Edit: And on this
