No brightness control in system menu

I recently installed Ubuntu 24.10 (because I have am NVIDIA card). It's working
great so far. But when I suspend my computer and then wake it up again, the
whole GNOME interface breaks. Log-in screen is broken, desktop and all GNOME
apps are broken unti
The image links are broken (Launchpad has problems with non-latin
characters), but on the description alone it sounds like bug 1876632.
Except for when you say logging in again doesn't fix it, that part is
unusual.

I happened to try another computer (HP Laptop 17-cn0xxx [i5-1135G7])
using a Plucky live image. It also does not show the brightness control
in the menu. This computer's keyboard does have brightness keys and
after pressing one of them the brightness control appears in the menu.
Edit: And on this
The keyboard doesn't have brightness keys unfortunately :-(

This computer does not show the brightness control in the GNOME system
menu (upper right). This the case in the up-to-date Plucky install and
when booted to the latest Plucky live image.
It does show up when I boot to a 24.10 live image. And I
Year 2025… This silly bug is still preventing from using Ctrl to display
the pointer location and Ctrl+Shift to switch the layout…
