Interesting when you log into gnome-shell on Xorg that the Xorg server
then reports all its input devices are being removed(!). So it sounds
like either a VT switch is happening at the wrong time (after the gnome-
shell user session has started), or that gnome-shell is frozen, or both.

I think vurentjie has figured it out!
I've been doing more methodical testing, including uninstalling all
custom Gnome extensions and disabling the Ubuntu ones, and still the
issue would appear intermittently.
So I logged in without touching my mouse, and it logged in fine. Then I
tried again: th

debug window came up with a error message, that says it has encountered
several critical errors.
It gave me some debug data to copy paste in a bug report. I have
attached the debug data
Ubuntu 25.04 removes the gnome-terminal.real wrapper, and thereby (maybe
accidentally) fixes this bug.
The only affected distro is 24.10 which will EOL in 3-4 months from now,
so I guess it won't see a fix.

Also experiencing this bug, added zip with journal.txt + prevjournal.txt.
No crash log.
One observation:
After logging in using the CTRL-ALT-F4 to get a new shell, it seems the
X-cursor lockout happens when there are updates to install. I'm in the habit of
ending my day with checking for updates
