Can you open a Terminal window and leave 'top' running before
reproducing the bug? I'm wondering if any process (like
mutter-x11-frames, gnome-shell or the app itself) is requiring too much
CPU.

Last time I checked, 'celluloid' was too inefficient compared to mpv.
But I haven't checked in quite some time. Please continue testing with
'mpv' and not 'celluloid' for now. Also we have only customised the
'mpv' package for hardware acceleration and I don't know what the state

Please enable the debug option in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and then reboot

I can confirm that rebuilding the gnome-shell_48.0-1ubuntu1 package
locally with the 3680.patch does indeed restore the scaling of low

Public bug reported:
Hi guys. I don't think this bug is directly gnome-shell related, but I
have no clue how to report this bug to launchpad the other way.
I use non default terminal emulator (it's ghostty, but doesn't matter).
In previous Ubuntu versions I just set x-terminal-emulator alternati
I reproduced the bug with Wayland, switched to a different terminal, ran
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt. But when I switched back to TTY2 (not sure
if that's the proper term), Gnome shell was running fine and I could use
it as normal.
So I did it again:

What does that mean exactly? You can reproduce by resizing any window on an
Xorg session?

Did some further testing, and I can't reproduce the issue with apps like Chrome
or Ptyxis, but I can with Discord, Telegram, and Spotify. Only when they are

Thanks. I can see VLC using lots of CPU and memory, but that's just a
VLC problem. I recommend instead using 'mpv' instead:

Hey,
I'm sad to see this didn't find a sponsor yet :-/
But while going through release blockers (=bug targeted against the 25.04
