removed ubuntu-desktop to convert to Ubuntu GNOME.

Funny thing, I installed lightdm (with --no-install-recommends), and
tried it, but it won't work. It wouldn't even start manually.
Anyways, after I removed lightdm and then rebooted. Now gdm starts on
boot.

Funny thing is that I wasn't able to attach to the process unless I used
sudo (although the process was owned by my user!!)
Another funny thing is that after detaching (or maybe that happened
after attaching), the process stopped

I found out the reason of my problem. It is actually gstreamer related.
I had built/installed gstreamer0.10-plugins-good 0.10.26-1 from Debian,
while I had gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.20-1ubuntu1 from Ubuntu
(which removed valve plugin as it got moved to -good).
So, I solved my problem by grabb

The beep sounds very awkward using this method, also I tried to
modprobe pcspkr to get the normal beep sound, but instead that resulted
