I can confirm this, using Feisty with evince-0.8.1 with a HP LaserJet 4050. All other apps do duplex perfectly, just evince doesn't.
However, this seems to be a gnome-cups-admin issue. Although I setup my printer settings with the GNOME printer setup tool, none of the settings have been propagated to CUPS correctly.
