Indeed, if I set the 3 screens at the same scale (ie 200%) the problem

Here you have a screenshot of my "Places" menu (In spanish is
"Lugares"), as you can see, there are two "Desktop" items (in spanish
"Escritorio"). The distro is up to date (30-Sep-07) and the user has a
clean $HOME, no .* files are in it.
