As described in bug #218434, I can work around this by running this
comand:
hal-get-property --key block.storage_device --udi `hal-find-by-property
--key volume.mount_point --string /` | xargs -l1 hal-set-pro

Thanks Sebastien. Since older versions did not do this I assumed it was
a bug. As a feature I personally think it's fairly brain-dead, but hey
:) I'll follow the upstream bug.

I have now installed Dapper Drake Flight 6, and it works fine! I am able to
log in without a problem.
