Thanks Lynn. You were right and I hadn't read them. My Compose key now
works after following the instructions in the release notes.

I am also having problems with the compose key. Unlike others here, I
can't type accented characters no matter whether I press the accent
first or the letter first.
With Xserver 1.5.2 that is in Intrepid, I had to manually create the
xorg.conf file, and I copied my config from my old Hardy xorg.co
Forgot to mention, I also deleted the now empty ~/Desktop folder.

Same problem for me, after changing the language of the computer from
English to French.
I fixed by moving all contents of my old ~/Desktop folder to the new
~/Bureau, including the hidden file '.directory'. After that I logged
out and logged back in and all was well.

/system/http_proxy/ settings. I have tried setting them via gnome-
network-preferences and also via /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory schema.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gconftool -R /system/http_proxy
use_http_proxy = true
mode = manual
Dennda, just out of interest, have you tried booting with ACPI disabled
to see if this helps with the speed?
