This happens to me too, occasionally (sometimes videos / mp3 play fine, some others I get this message). When this bug happens, the same streams play well in vlc! I'm running 9.10 32bit on an AMD Athlon 64 x2 @ 5200+ -- Failed to connect stream: Too large https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362423
