Hi,
perhaps this helps.
I tried to play directly with gstreamer (gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin ) a video.
Result, with vaapi only audio but no video output.
Here command line output:
Leitung wird auf PAUSIERT gesetzt ...
/GstPlayBin:playbin0/GstDecodeBin:decodebin0/GstTypeFindElement:typefind.GstPa
The problem seems to be following:
Missing Element: video/x-surface-Decoder

Title:
Shotwell crashes on start with gstreamer0.
Thanks but it seems that this Bug is still valid. I updated my system
(libva-intel-vaapi-driver 1.0.15-1ubuntu1) but shotwell still crash and
nautilus shows no video information in the file properties (only audio
information).

Similar problem with Nautilus.
If you try to look at the properties of a Video File, nautilus crashes.
Nautilus Command Line output:
libva: VA-API version 0.32.0
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns 0
nautilus: i965
