Hibernate is completly different from saving a session in a file. What's
about, many users? dual boot? power failure? This functionality is
mandatory for many users, a key functionnality. I really don't
understand this low priority.

This worked for me too. I've been having Evolution freeze regularly for about
6 months, finally found this thread. Edit/Plugins disable Templates, restarted
Evolution, solved it.

Did I understand correctly, that bug #1076830 is an attempt to report a crash
which has been already identified by apport as a duplicate?
If so, then you should probably mark it as a duplicate
Your current doesn't contain a coredump retrace, and therefore is not very
informative.
If you can reproduce the crash -- report it properly, with a coredump attached.
(If apport doesn't allow you to report the crash to Launchpad, please look at
the bug #994921).
