The problem seems to come from 'convert', part of the imagemagick package. Use the following command in the terminal with the attached file (2mb; good orientation tag) to produce a file with the bad orientation tag: convert -quality 80 -resize 800x600 1.jpg 1-bad.jpg ** Attachment
