I think I know what the problem is now. I opened the .png file with
"Shotwell" instead of "Shotwell Viewer". Maybe the .jpg/.tif/.bmp files
were displayed in Shotwell Viewer instead of Shotwell? That must be
correct because I can not reproduce the problem.

I am trying to paste a text file.
1) Click text file in Documents.
2) Right click on text file.
3) Click copy.
4) Click on Desktop.
5) Right click on Desktop.
6) Paste is grayed out.
I can paste to the Desktop in Nautilus.
1) Click text file in Documents.
2) Right click on text file.
