I found a simpler procedure to reproduce the error, typing in the console:
$ evolution --component=mail mailto:somevalidaddr...@gmail.com
Now the process stalls with or without attachment, after using the graphic
interface and sending the e-mail.

I've been using Evolution 2.28.3-0ubuntu10 in Ubuntu 10.04 (and now also
testing in Mint 9, which is based in based in Lucid), and I've found this
problem consistently.

It also happens to me. Not very often, but it's difficult to reproduce. After
killing Rhythmbox 2 or 3 times, then the menu appears correctly.
Interestingly, sometimes the same problem happens with the indicator session
applet. A manual logout fixes it.
