To add to my earlier comment, it also happens when copying between
Ubuntu applications. In this case, a rather poor workaround is to copy
twice or even three times which usually will eventually grab the text
being copied.

pays little attention to the wide variety of screen sizes, in particular

I've installed Ubuntu on about 20 machines, and have never seen or heard
about this until tonight. One person who I did an install for wrote me
and said he couldn't find trash anywhere. I wrote back and sent him a
screen shot of my desktop showing him where it was, and also told him
how to find it

2. Plug in my ipod using a usb cable and then launch Rhythmbox and my ipod does

I installed karmic ubuntu-netbook-remix (aug 8 2009 version) on my
macbook pro (santa rosa) and enabled the nvidia driver. When i launch
openoffice writer and then quit the application the screen becomes black
and there is not desktop anymore. I have to reboot everytime.

This problem no longer exists in Evolution 2.6.1-0ubuntu2 2009-05-15,
which I installed in a recent update. Previously I saw no events on my
calendar, now I see them all. I compared my previous calendar.ics file
in ~/.evolution/calendar/local/system to the current one, and the only
difference is
