I built a version of libmutter with the patch in the linked GNOME bug
applied, but then I get a different crash when turning off the monitor.
That one is 1724439, in meta_window_get_monitor(). Switching my session
from Wayland to Xorg fixes the problem. It might fix the original crash
too, I didn't
The GNOME people have merged a patch for this. When will a new Ubuntu
package be released? Do they need to cut a release of Mutter? I'm not
clear on the process.

I opened up the .crash file and it has the same stack trace as in
#1724557. I also get the crash turning the monitor off. I don't know if
you guys want to mark this one as duplicate or what.

I'm also experiencing this, and I also have a 4k monitor, although not
the same model as David. Mine is an LG 27UD58-B. It's hooked up to a KVM
switch and might be taking longer to come up than is normal, but I
haven't really noticed that.

Oh, I should add this: the joystick I'm using is a standard USB stick.
Model: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. If it matters, this happens when I'm
playing FlightGear.

It's quite annoying to be playing a flight sim and have my screen lock
for no apparent reason.
This is obviously a nice-to-have.
