Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evince
As simple as that. Evince does not start in LTSP environments.
When I start it from the console, I get this:
el...@xserver:/data/home/elias$ evince '/home/elias/Desktop/claim/s560p.pdf'

Public bug reported:
Gnome sessions do not shutdown cleanly. Lots of processes stay running
after logout. This might be acceptable on a one user system, but it
brings my LTSP systems down on its knees after some time.
Also processes which don't have anything to do with gnome stay running

If you disable e-a-n the 100% cpu usage on startup described in this bug
goes away for me! So CERTAINLY e-a-n does have something to do with this
bug. Seems like you guys are looking at the wrong place.
And since disabling e-a-n does also solve the problem with the leftover
e-d-s and gconf
Please disable automatic startup of evolution alarm notifier until
this is fixed!
Some people like me are maintaining large LTSP environments and this
damn thing screws up the hole system!
* When people log out, there are left over processes.
* They are unable to login again until I kill these

Deactivating Evolution Alarm Notifier in
System/Preferences/Sessions/Startup Programs solves the problem for me!
I tested this on several systems!

I vote for replacing the dependency on Evolution in ubuntu-desktop with
a dependency on a virtual Mail Client package! Evolution just did too

I still see this behaviour in hardy! Just had a look. The worst part is
actually not the CPU cycles but IO. Evolution-data-server does use all
available IO, which makes other apps and the whole startup
This worked again in gutsy. But only if I would press the left Alt
button first. The other way round did not work.
In hardy this does not work at all again!

I deleted the .gnome preferences directory, if I remember right. And
then it worked again. I noticed, that for a new user this would work. Ah
no, now I remember, what I actually did was create a new user and work
with this one from now on. Sucked, but what can you do if this does not
get fixed.
I have nvidia-glx-new enabled and have high CPU resource usage in gutsy.
Does look much better in hardy. Can go as low as 5% in hardy, amazing
improvement but still kinda sucks!

This happens with first login after boot up.
What is started automatically is the evolution alarm notifier.
Other than that there is to mention that I have a personal and a
business calendar. I had also a Birthdays and Anniversaries calendar but
deactivated due to comments on another e-d-s
And this is actually not a misinterpretation of the sys-mon app but
really how much cpu it consumes, unlike what people have suggested
before. I just setup Gutsy on a Celeron 500 and starting g-sys-mon makes
it very unresponsive! g-sys-mon is reporting it's cpu consumption
correctly, but it
